I am a full-stack web developer with experience designing in HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, Node.js and React. I love creating sites that are easy to use while also maintaining an expressive aesthetic. The crossroads of form and function is where I love to be.

I also spent six years traveling the world as an ESL teacher and proofreader; I taught in the Czech Republic, Poland and Vietnam, and have been lucky enough to travel through much of the rest of Europe and southeast Asia. Though I don’t need to diagram verb tenses anymore, I developed skills in communication, project management, presentation and attention to detail that continue to serve me well in programming. (I’m also an excellent whiteboarder!)

    Need a full-stack developer? Let's talk!

Front-End Web Design

I enjoy designing fun and functional sites using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, vanilla JavaScript, React/Redux, and more; I'm always adding more to my stack!

Server-side and Database Management

I've built and deployed back-end projects in Node.js, Python, MongoDB and Mongoose, with authentication in Passport and JWT.

Collaborative problem-solving

"There's no 'I' in 'team', but there is an 'i' in 'pie'". Words to live by. I'm a fan of Trello, Slack, and GitHub to keep everyone on the same page and tackling problems together, and multi-colored pens never hurt, either.

  • More about me:

I discovered that I actually really like fried locusts. They're a great snack with beer. The hardest part is eating the first one, but after that it's quite easy! Yum.

  • More about me:

I love tinkering with things and recently built a computer from scratch. I'm also beginning with Arduino components and even got an LED light to blink in all kinds of colors.

  • More about me:

I drove a T34 Soviet tank in the Czech Republic and didn't crash it even a little bit.

  • More about me:

I enjoy bouldering and climbing, even though I'm still fairly new to it. Right now I'm pretty happy if I can manage a V1 overhanging route (where V0 is the easiest). If you ever see me with mysterious white powder on my hands, I promise it's chalk.

  • More about me:

I went to an elephant sanctuary in Thailand and got to help bathe them in mud and rinse them in a river. Baby elephants look like they should be soft, but they aren't. They do, however, have fuzzy hair on their heads and a mischievous nature.

  • More about me:

I like calligraphy and lettering, but I've learned that it's a bad idea to listen to anything too funny while I'm writing since I'll smudge the lines before the ink has dried. Oops.

  • More about me:

I've recently taken up running, and did the Gator Run 10k at the Hellhole Swamp Fest this year. I think I'll have to move somewhere cooler/less humid before attempting a half-marathon, though.
